DESCRIPTION

This course provides a very practical and professionally oriented introduction to the world of bibliometrics and the evaluation of scientific activity. Throughout the syllabus we study and point out which are the fundamental bibliometric indicators that we should know; which are the evaluation criteria for the academic careers of researchers and professors in the current university system and which are the basic tools/platforms/software to calculate bibliometric indicators effortlessly and quickly. However, this is not an ordinary bibliometrics course, throughout the course we never lose the library perspective as the essential objective is to get the basic know-how on biblimetry to be able to apply it to the creation of new library services. For example, consultancy services so that lectures can pass the CNEAI and ANECA exams and, on the other hand, the Bibliometrics Units are proposed as an integral service for the evaluation of science directed from the university libraries.
