DESCRIPTION

This course is a very practical and professionally oriented introduction to the world of bibliometrics and the evaluation of scientific activity. Throughout the syllabus, the fundamental bibliometric indicators that we should know are studied and pointed out; what are the criteria for evaluating the academic careers of researchers, what are the basic tools/platforms/software for calculating bibliometric indicators and producing reports. However, this is not an ordinary bibliometrics course; throughout the course we never lose the university perspective as the essential objective is to obtain the basic know-how on bibliometrics in order to be able to apply it to the creation of new services. For example, advisory services for teachers or Bibliometrics Units, such as a service for the generation of bibliometric reports that can help decision-making in the field of science policy.
