DESCRIPTION
This course provides a practical introduction to the integration of data science techniques in the bibliometric field. The aim is to provide basic training in the extraction, cleaning and preprocessing of bibliographic data from any source for their bibliometric analysis. Finally, the process of adapting the data to structured formats for use in tools such as VOSviewer or Bibliometrix will be guided.
STRUCTURE
Module 1 – Data extraction
- Introduction to new ways of bibliographic data extraction.
Module 2 – Generation of bibliographic datasets
- Cleaning and processing of bibliographic data with Excel and R.
- Creation of bibliographic datasets.
Module 3 – Adaptation to standardised formats
- Adaptation of the bibliographic dataset to the Web of Science format.
- Importing data into bibliometric tools.
Module 4 – Bibliometric analysis
- Fundamentals of bibliometric analysis from Excel and R.
- Analysis using bibliometric tools.
